ASUS Transformer Book Trio è un ultraportatile con Windows 8, che però è possibile utilizzare in tre modalità: tablet Android, notebook e desktop. Era stato annunciato qualche tempo fa al Computex di Taipei dello scorso giugno. Da quel mese nulla è cambiato, semplicemente adesso il tablet ASUS Transformer Book Trio è pronto per arrivare nei negozi. Vediamo cosa offre sotto il cofano questo ASUS Transformer Book Trio.

Il display ha una diagonale da 11.6 pollici ed una tastiera dock, sulla falsariga di quelle utilizzate per i classici Transformer Pad. Collegate insieme, Transformer Book Trio è un notebook con Windows 8, staccate invece è un tablet Android 4.2, ma è possibile utilizzarlo anche come PC desktop aggiungendoci un monitor. Naturalmente lo switch da un OS all'altro è istantaneo e non richiede il riavvio. Spettacolo!

La tastiera dock cela un processore Intel Haswell (fino al Core i7), GMA HD 4400, 4GB di memoria RAM e fino ad 1TB di storage su hard disk. E' dotata di un modulo WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 e 2 porte USB 3.0, una mini Display Port, una micro HDMI e jack audio. Non mancano gli altoparlanti stereo ed una batteria da 33Whr.

Il tablet/display invece ha un display con diagonale da 11.6 pollici Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel, IPS) touchscreen capacitivo a 10 punti di contatto, ma anche un processore Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail, 2GB di memoria RAM, 16-64GB di storage, una fotocamera posteriore da 4 megapixel ed una frontale a 720p. Il tablet integra un modulo WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, micro USB, jack audio e slot per schede microSD. Ha una batteria da 19 Whr.

Utilizzati insieme, ASUS assicura un'autonomia massima di 13 ore continuate su Android, ovvero 5 ore con Windows 8.

ASUS Transformer Book Trio (tablet) misura 10 millimetri in spessore e pesa 680 grammi, mentre la PC Station ha uno spessore di 12 mm e pesa 544 grammi.

Ovviamente per ora non conosciamo i prezzi e la disponibilità in Italia. Speriamo solo che non costi troppo, perchè mi sembra una soluzione veramente spettacolare per un prodotto realmente innovativo e performante!

Dual processors and dual operating systems

ASUS Transformer Book Trio features a sleek and durable metallic design powered by a 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor for seamless multi-tasking performance and outstanding energy efficiency in Windows 8 laptop mode. When it’s time for entertainment to take over from productivity, the 11.6-inch display detaches from the ‘PC Station’ keyboard dock for use as a multi-touch Android tablet with its own Intel Atom™ dual-core processor and up to 64GB of solid-state storage.

With the display docked, Transformer Book Trio can switch instantly between Windows 8 and Android 4.2 by pressing the dedicated ‘Trio’ key on the keyboard, with data shared between the two operating systems via the tablet’s storage. Power-packed portable performance

ASUS Transformer Book Trio does not sacrifice portability for the sake of versatility — or vice versa. With 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 in the PC Station, plus 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 in the tablet display, Transformer Book Trio cuts the need for cables, no matter which mode it’s used in.
